FAQs

What is the dress code?

To honor this occasion with fine attire, our ceremony and reception will be black tie optional. This means a tux and gown are preferred, but men may wear a formal suit instead of a tux, and women are welcome to wear a cocktail dress or midi, rather than a full-length gown. Above all, we want you to feel comfortable and stylish!

Can I bring my kids?

We wish we could invite all the children of our loved ones to join us, but due to limited space, the invitation is extended only to those whose names appear on the invitation (or, The ____ Family). We hope you understand, and we look forward to celebrating with you!

Can I bring a date?

We would love to include everyone, but due to space limitations, we can only invite those whose names are on the invitation (or invitations addressed to "Your name & Guest"). We truly appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Can I take pictures?

We kindly request an "unplugged" ceremony, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the moment while our wonderful photographer, Sarah Sunstrom, captures all the special memories. During the reception, we’d love for you to take as many pictures and videos as you'd like and share them with us — we can’t wait to see them!

Where should I park?

Parking at the church is readily available. For the reception, there is self-parking available at the main entrance of the Indiana Memorial Union. Biddle Hotel guests will be charged a rate of $6 per day to their room. Non-guests may park there as well for $2/hour. More information is available, here.

If I'm not Catholic, is there anything I need to know to attend a Catholic Mass?

Just follow the crowd! We're so glad to share in this beautiful sacrament with everyone. You can expect a lot of standing and sitting, prayers and singing — you are welcome to participate as much or as little as you would like. When it's time to receive the Eucharist, we encourage you to come up and receive a blessing (just cross your arms across your chest!), or you can stay in your seat. There's no wrong way to do it. We know this ceremony is longer than most, and we're so grateful to share in this time together.

Will there be extra time between the ceremony and the reception?

Unfortunately, yes. This is in order to accommodate the weekly Saturday afternoon Mass at St. Charles. The bridal party will use this time for photos—we invite you to check out the bowling lanes and speakeasy inside the Union, just below the reception space!

Is Annie going to be in the wedding?

We're so glad you asked.

Annie is #1 in our hearts, but a little on the unpredictable side (if you know, you know). She'll be present in a number of other ways, while doing her favorite thing that weekend (sleeping).
